Solvent-Free Fluid thins oil colours increasing flow and transparency. This medium will also increase gloss and colour saturation.
Like Safflower Oil, Solvent-Free Fluid is a 100% fat and best suited for direct painting styles like alla prima or plein air rather than painting indirectly in multiple thin layers. High fat mediums should be used in moderation- we recommend up to 25% by volume in mixture with oil colours. Adding too much of any rich oil medium will increase the possibility of a paint layer to wrinkle as it dries (especially a thick paint layer) and yellow over time. The more medium added to a paint mixture, the more thinly it should be applied.
