These convenient pads feature color-themed selections of Canson Mi-Teintes Pastel Paper, in assorted colors, earth tones and gray tones. Perfect for pastel paintings and tonal dry media drawings, Mi-Teintes paper is double-sided, acid free, and lightfast. Available in two popular standard sizes, pads are tape-bound with a chipboard backing, and include 24 sheets of pastel paper in select theme colors.
Mi-Teintes pads have a a 65% rag content, a 98 lb. weight and is gelatine sized making it very strong and allowing repeated reworking in a variety of media. The Mi-Teintes sheet has two distinct surface textures, one side smooth and the other grainy. Thus the sheet is adaptable to an endless array of techniques. No matter what media you use soft pastel, oil pastel, pencil, charcoal, colored pencil, watercolor, designers’ colors or acrylic you’ll find the Mi-Teintes sheet to be highly receptive and easy to work on.

I haven’t used it with pastels yet though I assume my sanded paper will be better for that BUT, I have used the smooth side for coloured pencils and really like the surface for that media. It has just enough tooth to grab the pencil but not so much that it fills in very quickly. Takes a good number of layers and handles burnishing well too. Frankly it’s become my new favourite paper for most coloured pencil work. It’s also a reasonable price so you’re not worrying about ruining an expensive piece of paper if you mess the drawing up!! I hate when paper is so expensive you worry about wrecking it the whole time, takes the fun out of it and leaves you up tight, which is not why I draw!! I want to be able to relax and enjoy drawing not turn it into a job that I just HAVE to do!!
